Online: Complete the online membership application below.
Call-in: Call us at 605-456-2494 and speak with one of our Member Service Representatives.
Walk-in: Sign-up for service at the Newell office at 109 Dartmouth Ave or the Spearfish office at 1940 North Ave Suite 1.

Traditional Billing

Butte Electric members are subject to a $200 deposit. We will accept a "Letter of Credit" from your most recent utility provider to determine if a minimum deposit of $200 is required. Deposits are refunded when you leave our service territory. The $200 deposit will be added to your first electric bill.

Prepaid Account

Butte Electric Cooperative offers a prepaid billing option for members who would like an alternative to the traditional method of billing. Prepaid allows members to pay for their power up front with the funds being withdrawn from their account as they use energy. A member enrolled in prepaid billing will have money withdrawn from their account every day following a daily bill calculation. The funds that are withdrawn will cover the energy and flat costs associated with providing electricity to that member along with any additional taxes and fees. An fee of $50 is required to start a prepaid accounts. This fee will go towards energy usage.

Butte Electric members can enroll in e-Billing to receive, view, and pay their bills online using a bank account or debit/credit card. You will be notified via email when your monthly bill is available for online viewing and payment. There are no additional fees associated with this service.
