2026 Youth Tour

Butte Electric will once again sponsor a high school (junior or senior) on an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. as part of the Rural Electric Youth Tour.  Tour highlights include the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, US Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier among other historical and exciting sites.  The weeklong tour will take place from June 14-20, 2026.

To be eligible:

  1. Must be a high school junior or senior
  2. Submit a 500 word essay on the following topic: If chosen as a Youth Tour delegate, you will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to experience and learn about America's rich history. "If chosen as a youth tour delegate, you will be traveling to Washington, DC to experience and learn about America's rich history.  What do you expect to learn about in Washington, DC?  Why is learning about history important?  In what ways might this trip impact your future career?"
  3. Parents or guardian must be a member of Butte Electric
  4. Include a recent picture
  5. Schedule your Interview with Angie or Cheyenne at Butte Electric (605) 456-2494.

Details on requirements. Please include ALL of the following to be eligible.

Typed, 500 word essay on the topic listed above.  

Include a recent picture of yourself that Butte Electric can use in publications such as Cooperative Connections, our web-site and Facebook page. If you are submitting your application electronically, attach the photo as a jpeg file.

Deadline for entering is November 3, 2025.
